ShowCountdown Help
Use these practical guides to move from a new room to a synchronized live display.
Create a Room
- Open Create free timer.
- Enter a room name and the first timer duration.
- Choose the maximum number of simultaneous Viewer devices.
- Optionally add a Viewer password, then create the room.
- Keep the Controller URL private; it contains the highest-permission access token.
Choose the Right Role Link
- Controller: full room setup, sharing, device management and timer operation
- Operator: start, pause, reset, add time and switch prepared timers
- Viewer: clean countdown output without controls
- Moderator: create and control private stage messages
Add and Arrange Timers
- Use Add timer to create a new rundown item.
- Set minutes and seconds, rename the timer and add notes where needed.
- Use the three-dot menu to insert above or below, clone or delete an item.
- Select a timer first, then press Start when the segment actually begins.
- Use the scheduled start option when a countdown should begin at a specific date and time.
Share Secure Links
- Open Share room from the Controller.
- Preview the Controller, Operator, Viewer or Moderator view before sending it.
- Give the link a recognisable name and optionally add a password.
- Copy only the role link that person needs.
- Open the room name in the top bar to see online devices, rename them or remove an unfamiliar connection.
Use the Viewer in OBS
- Copy the Viewer link, not the Controller or Operator link.
- In OBS, add a Browser Source and paste the Viewer URL.
- Set the source dimensions to match the scene or crop the browser source to the timer area.
- Open the Viewer once in a normal browser if you need to verify a password or display choice.
- Keep the link private because it contains access to that room view.
Fullscreen Presenter Display
- Open the Viewer link on the presenter monitor, tablet or confidence display.
- Use the browser's fullscreen command or the Fullscreen button where available.
- Disable sleep and screen-lock settings before the event.
- Test scaling, warning colours and stage messages from the actual viewing distance.
Messages and Positioning
Moderators and controllers can create stage messages, enable the message that should currently appear and disable it when it is no longer needed. On supported views, drag the message to a position that does not cover the countdown or programme output.
Connection Troubleshooting
- Confirm every device has internet access and the correct role URL
- Refresh the affected Viewer or Operator and check whether it appears in Online devices
- If the viewer limit is reached, remove an unused device or increase the limit in room settings
- Check that a browser extension, firewall or privacy setting is not blocking requests
- For OBS, refresh the Browser Source cache and confirm the URL opens in a normal browser
- Keep a local backup timer available if the venue connection is unstable
